Civil War Weekend will kick off on Friday 11/1/13 with history lectures by the park staff and volunteers for school children in the local area. Old Washington, AR, is located 8 miles west of Hope, AR on Hwy 278, for Civil War Weekend. During this weekend, visitors can walk the streets of a town touched by the hand of war. There will be interpretations of the many conflicts of the area when Washington was the Confederate Capital of Arkansas. Reenactors will present living history demonstrations, include combat scenarios employing infantry, artillery and cavalry, during the weekend. Guided tours of the many historic homes and building of the town will be available, as well as surrey rides. The tavern restaurant, located on site, is well known for its great food.
