Living history event marking the 151st Anniversary of the Skirmish at Ashley’s Mills. Living historians will be on hand to demonstrate infantry tactics, encampments, cooking, flag/weapons displays. The event is located on the actual grounds that the actual Skirmish took place. This is a free event to the public. This event is hosted by General Robert C. Newton Camp #197 Sons of Confederate Veterans.

28th Annual Christmas and Candlelight Tour

Historic Washington State Park will be the place to visit during the start of the Christmas Season. You and your family can view what 19th Century candlelit streets can provide. Homes of yesteryear will be adorned with all natural Christmas decorations from pine cones to evergreens. Historic 19th Century music will set the mood for this travel back in time to celebrate the Christmas Season in a more genteel century.  Daylight tour hours are from 1-5PM and candlelight tours begin…

Battle of Poison Springs

In the spring of 1864, three Civil War battles took place in south central Arkansas that were part of the Union Army's Red River Campaign. The first battle occurred at Poison Springs on April 18 when Confederate troops captured a supply train and scattered Union forces.
