Exactly 150 years later on April 12th, soldiers return to Prairie D'Ane to re-enact the battle that turned U.S. General Frederick Steele away to Camden...and his eventual retreat back to Little Rock.

In the spring of 1864, three Civil War battles took place in south central Arkansas that were part of the Union Army's Red River Campaign. The first battle occurred at Poison Springs on April 18 when Confederate troops captured a supply train and scattered Union forces.
