150th David O. Dodd Remembrance

This is the sesquicentennial of the memorial for David O. Dodd, the Boy Martyr of the Confederacy, in Little Rock, AR.  At the age of 18 David Owen Dodd was hanged in Little Rock on 1/8/1864 as a Confederate spy. The day’s events will begin with a march of one mile from the McArthur Military Museum to Mount Holly Cemetery by Confederate reenactors. The Red River Campaign was an attempt by the Union army to seize control of Texas and its cotton warehouses. Exactly 150 years later on April 12th, soldiers return to Prairie D'Ane to re-enact the battle that turned U.S. General Frederick Steele away to Camden...and his eventual retreat back to Little Rock.

The Prairie Grove State Park will commemorate the anniversary of the Battle of Prairie Grove, which saw 22,000 troops engaged.
