The 8th Red River Symposium at Washington, AR, will begin its Saturday Agenda with a morning bus tour of the Prairie D’Ane and Moscow Church Battlefields in Southwest Arkansas. These memorable fights were part of the northern part of the Red River Campaign known as the Camden Expedition that began in Little Rock, AR and over 41 days from March 23, 1864 to May 3, 1864, extended southwest to Prairie D’Ane, near present day Prescott, AR, east to Camden, AR and north to Little Rock.
The afternoon will cover Samuel B. Maxey and the Confederate Indians; POW Camp Ford, Tyler, TX; Medical Journal of Dr. Henry M. Dye, Texas Surgeon; and The Civil War Home Front in Arkansas. This Symposium continues to provide some of the best Historical Information about Arkansas History. I invite you to attend and learn more about our State.
