CHRISTMAS SEASON ON CAMPAIGN-PART 7
After drill and once back at camp we find all our tents had been moved to our campsite and we are required to set up our tents before we can get an issue of food. It takes us about an hour before we have the company street completed with all our tents up, our three campfires lit and all our individual equipment moved into the tents. We have an A frame tent that is supposed to house 2 men, but we have to squeeze all four of us mess mates into it.
It was late morning when we finish and our stomachs are growling. The regimental quartermaster wouldn’t issue any food until we had everything ship shape according to his requirements. God, how I hate that man! He has no heart and could care less if we are hungry or not.
